Hi, I’m Shelley!

I attended Radford University, where I became a Board-Certified Music Therapist with a minor in American Sign Language. I originally founded Notes 2 Live By, LLC to serve residents in an assisted living facility in Virginia, but then moved to Indiana for my dream job working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

My AAC Journey started with one simple question in my internship…

In 2016, during my clinical internship, I sat across from a client using a communication device. When I asked my supervisor how it worked, the answer stayed with me: “I’m not familiar with it.” In that moment, I knew there was a problem. If the professionals weren't familiar with the tools, how could the clients ever make progress? I dedicated my final project to AAC and haven't looked back since. What began as a curiosity became a driving mission to ensure that no AAC user, professional, or family, ever feels lost in the AAC dark.

Because I’ve been the one asking "How does this work?", I am now passionate about being the one who provides the answers. My goal is to turn that initial uncertainty into total confidence for every family, therapist, and business I work with!

Since moving to Indiana in 2018, I have focused on systemic change—making our communities more accessible for everyone.

  • Founder: Created Indiana’s only Medicaid Waiver-funded AAC parent training program to empower families in understanding the technology their loved one uses to communicate. Trainings are offered 1:1 and in a group with a access to a resource library created by me.

  • Community Consultant: Assisted the City of Fort Wayne in securing the AAC playground board for Kreager Park and partnered with the YMCA to implement a multilingual communication board for their playground.

  • Clinician: Currently serving as a Music Therapist, COO, and Assistive Technology Specialist at Mainstay Music Therapy, providing AAC evaluations, consultations, and sessions.
